Tonight we start our Catholic Connection listening sessions. In the letter I sent to people whose names were shared with us, I said:

CatholicConnection-front pageIf you have been away from the Church, Christ longs for your return. The words of Jesus are in our hearts as in His name we extend a loving, welcoming hand to you: “Come to me … and I will give you rest. Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart … my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Please accept this invitation as an expression of our love and concern for you. The Church is incomplete without you, and I hope you will consider coming home where your faith has its roots. You are in my prayers.

The Archdiocese is offering many opportunities to support this invitation. We are holding listening sessions (see below) at locations throughout our Archdiocese. Other resources include the Tribunal to address marriage issues, individuals who will mentor and walk with those who wish to return to the Church, family counseling, education and formation programs, and so on. We will do whatever we can to help. All of these resources will be shared at the listening sessions or you are welcome to email or call our office (evang@archlou.org or 502/585-3291) or a local parish to seek further assistance. See www.archlou.org/catholic-connection for information about resources and contacts.

Listening sessions will be held throughout this month; see dates below. The purpose of these sessions is to provide the opportunity to share concerns and questions and to provide specific resources and assistance.  The format includes a welcome, brief reflection from a priest, time to share in small groups, and the opportunity to seek further assistance with particular issues. No advance registration is necessary. For questions, please contact evang@archlou.org or call 502/585-3291.

I look forward to the sessions I am attending this week.  Please consider sharing this information with someone who would welcome an invitation to reconnect with the Church.
