To give direction and leadership to the full and holistic development of our growing and diverse Catholic communities within the Archdiocese of Louisville. OMM provides resources to the archdiocese in its effort to respond to diverse ethnic pastoral needs and concerns. It utilizes resources both locally and nationally in order to foster holistic development from a cultural perspective. It encourages the full participation of the multicultural community through the implementation of the archdiocesan strategic plan in collaboration with various national ethnic pastoral plans.

Viongozi Parish Ministry Leadership Program Zoom Webinars

The Office of Multicultural Ministry’s Viongozi Africentric Leadership Program will offer two webinar classes in September and October via Zoom cast. They are: “Africentric Tools for Effective Ministry”, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 presented by Deacon James R. Turner; and “What it Means to be a Welcoming Church from an Africentric Perspective”, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 presented by Rev. John Judie. Both classes will run from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The fee is $10.00 per person, per class. The classes are virtual and each one is limited to 30 participants. The registration deadline for the September class is Friday, September 25, 2020. The registration deadline for the October class is Friday, October 9, 2020. Once you register you will be sent the link for the video webinar via email that will enable you to connect with the Zoom cast. You can join from a PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone or Android and you will need to download the app ( prior to the class. You can also join by phone. Send your registration in via USPS or email to Viongozi means leaders in Swahili. The purpose of the Viongozi Program is to enhance leadership skills for parish ministry from an Africentric perspective. The process is intended for individuals new in ministry, individuals considering a leadership position in the church, individuals newly discerned or elected by parish lay leadership or individuals ministering with African American Catholics. 33rdAnnual African American Catholic History Celebration

The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry and its African American Catholic Ministry will host its 33rd Annual African American Catholic History Celebration on Saturday, November 7, 2020, 12:00 p.m. at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 3112 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40211. The theme is “Daniel Rudd: A Man for Justice”. Join us for this celebration of the past, present and future. Covid-19 pandemic and CDC guidelines will be followed including wearing a mask.
