Archives

Purpose

To collect, preserve, and maintain the papers and artifacts of the archdiocese, her institutions, bishops/arch-bishops, priests, and deacons.

Mission Statement

The Archdiocese of Louisville Archives operates under the leadership of the Chancellor as part of the Office of the Archbishop.  The Archdiocesan Archives provides assistance and support to archdiocesan offices, parishes and researchers with their scholarly, genealogical and other historical research.  We celebrate our rich, local history and contributions to the development of the Catholic Church in the United States and promote a deeper understanding of the larger Catholic community.  The Archives of the Archdiocese of Louisville has been established in accordance with Canon Law 482.
