Foundations for Marriage: What To Expect

Your decision to marry may well be the most important decision of your life. The Church celebrates this exciting time with you and wishes to do our very best in preparing you for a lifetime together in marriage. With this in mind, the Foundations for Marriage preparation program was created to assist in this vital task.

Taught by various professionals in their respective areas, the Foundation for Marriage program is a one-day, 8-hour session held on selected Saturdays throughout the year in various locations around the Archdiocese.

This archdiocesan program spends significant time with engaged couples on the topics of “The Sacramentality of Marriage”, “Married Love”, “Family of Origin”, “Marriage Of Your Money”, and “Communication and Conflict Management”. A variety of learning styles are used in this program to assist couples in learning the many relevant concepts presented in an attempt to make real both the joys and challenges of married life that couples will face as they begin their new lives as one. (Mark 10: 8 “They are no longer two, but one flesh.”)

Foundations for Marriage is most helpful early in your engagement, before you become busy and wrapped up in the details of your wedding. It is best suited for first marriages and is designed to complement the FOCCUS inventory so as to provide a robust and fully-comprehensive marriage preparation process.

Sessions fill up very fast the closer you get to the actual date so don’t delay getting registered! Cancellations must be made one week prior to the scheduled session. The cost per couple is $100 and lunch is provided. Attendance for the entire day is required. Click on the “Register Here’ button below for available dates and locations.
