May 5, 2008 - (Louisville, KY) On Thursday, May 8, at 10:00 a.m., Governor Steve Beshear will visit St. Francis of Assisi School to sign HJR6 (The Ernie Marx Holocaust Education Bill) into law. This law, which passed on April 16, 2008, requires the development of a curricula and curriculum guide on the Holocaust for all schools in the Commonwealth. 
March 26, 2008 - (Louisville, Kentucky) St. Athanasius School, 5915 Outer Loop, will hold a “Celebrity Read-In Week” from March 31-April 4 at the school. The event is held to stress the importance of reading by inviting community leaders to read to students in grades pre-kindergarten through 5 during the week.
March 21, 2008 - (Louisville, KY) Eighth-graders at the north campus of Saint Nicholas Academy (4333 Hazelwood Avenue) have written and will stage a reenactment of Christ’s passion and death. This reenactment will begin in the school gym with a play that dramatizes the Last Supper and ends with Christ begin condemned to death.
On Wednesday, February 20, 2008, renowned children’s poet J. Patrick Lewis will visit St. Agnes School. Mr. Lewis is the author of 45 children’s poetry books.
February 5, 2008 - 487 individuals who are preparing to enter the Roman Catholic Church will be recognized during the “Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion” ceremonies at two locations February 9 and 10.
February 5, 2008 - The Kentucky League for Educational Alternatives will hold an education rally on Wednesday, February 6 in the Capitol Rotunda. The purpose of the rally is to support education in the state and to introduce the GIFT program that will be introduced in this legislative session.
February 4, 2008 - The Loyola Institute for Ministry through Loyola University in New Orleans offers a university graduate degree or certificate in religious education or pastoral ministry with locally-based classes and ministry experiences. An information session about this program will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 7:00 p.m. at the Flaget Center.
January 25, 2008 - Archdiocese of Louisville schools will celebrate National Catholic Schools Week from January 27-February 2, 2008. The theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week is “Catholic Schools: The Good News in Education.”
January 11, 2008 - Louisville, KY - In recognition of the United States’ commitment to eradicate modern-day slavery, Congress passed a resolution making January 11 National Day of Human Trafficking Awareness. This annual observance contributes to the ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the issue of human trafficking and highlights the work of the anti-trafficking movement.
