Teachers Honored for 3,505 Years of Service

October 31, 2017 (Louisville, KY) – On Wednesday, November 8, the Archdiocese of Louisville will honor 213 Catholic school teachers who have achieved a total of 3,505 years of teaching
experience. This luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Olmsted, 3701 Frankfort Avenue.

Teachers will receive recognition for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 years of teaching:

Catholic High School Placement Test – December 9, 2017

Students in grade 8 who wish to attend a Catholic high school next year are required to take the Catholic high school placement test scheduled on Saturday, December 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Students take the test at the Catholic high school they plan to attend. They must bring a $10 fee and two #2 pencils. Information about the location of the high schools can be found at www.louisvillecatholicschools.com.

COUPLES CELEBRATE YEARS OF MARRIAGE

October 16, 2017 (Louisville, Ky.) – Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. is celebrating the annual Wedding Anniversary Mass on Sunday, October 22, 2:00 p.m., at the Cathedral of the Assumption, 433 South Fifth Street.

This event honors 121 couples celebrating their 30, 40, 50, and 60+ wedding anniversaries.

The longest-married couple (70 years) is James and Ann Hartman of Holy Family Church, Louisville, Ky.

ACCOMMODATE 2017

The Archdiocese of Louisville is sponsoring the annual ACCOMMODATE 2017: A College Night for Students Seeking Support Services. This event will be held at Mercy Academy (5801 Fegenbush Lane, Louisville) on Thursday, November 2, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.

Two Catholic Schools in Archdiocese of Louisville Win National Blue Ribbon Awards

September 28, 2017  (Louisville, KY) – Today, the United States Department of Education announced that two Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville have been named 2017 National Blue Ribbon Schools. Two elementary schools serving preschool through grade 8 will be recognized: Saint Joseph School (320 West Stephen Foster Avenue, Bardstown, Ky.) for the first time and Holy Trinity School (423 Cherrywood Road, Louisville, Ky.) for the second time (2017 and 2007).

Taking Action on the Opioid Crisis

Catholic Schools Begin 2017-18 Academic Year

August 4, 2017  (Louisville, KY) – Jefferson County Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville will begin the first official day of instruction on August 16, 2017. Although this is the first “official” day of school, some Catholic schools choose to begin on a day other than August 16.
