On Wednesday, November 11 at 8:00 a.m., St. Leonard School (440 Zorn Avenue) will celebrate Veteran’s Day.  The ceremony will feature patriotic songs and a presentation by Michael Rowan, a St. Frances of Rome parishioner and St. Leonard school parent, about his service in the U.S. Army. Calendar Advisory – Catholic High School Placement Test

November 12, 2014 (Louisville, Ky.) Students in grade 8 who wish to attend a Catholic high school next year are required to take the Catholic high school placement test scheduled on Saturday, December 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

Students take the test at the Catholic high school they plan to attend. They must bring a $10 fee and two #2 pencils.  Information about the location of the high schools can be found at www.archlou.org/schools.

Major New Initiatives Announced for Catholic Elementary Schools

November 6, 2014 (Louisville, Ky.) Today, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz and Richard A. Lechleiter, President of the Catholic Education Foundation, announced new efforts to make Catholic elementary schools more accessible and affordable.  These efforts are expected to double the amount of tuition assistance available for families in need to more than $3 million annually.

“It’s a new day for families who may be thinking about a Catholic elementary school but are unsure if it is financially possible for them,” said Archbishop Kurtz.

Four Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic Elementary Schools Win Blue Ribbon Awards

Catholic Elementary Teachers Gather for Opening School Rally

August 7, 2014 (Louisville, Ky.) Approximately 750 teachers from 37 Catholic elementary schools will gather on Friday, August 8 to celebrate the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year. This event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel Parish, 5505 Bardstown Road.

Catholic School Spring Break Week for 2014-2015 School Year Changed

May 14, 2014 (Louisville, Ky.) Based upon the change in the Spring Break dates on the part of Jefferson County Public Schools, Catholic school leaders overwhelmingly recommended that Catholic schools in Jefferson County adjust the 2015 Spring Break dates to be consistent with other school systems.

Based on that input, Leisa Schulz, Superintendent of Schools, has changed the 2015 Spring Break dates to April 6-10, 2015 for Jefferson County Catholic schools.

Catholic Charities Holds Rice Bowl Lunch

February 13, 2014 (Louisville, Ky.) On Wednesday, February 19, beginning at 10:30 a.m., Catholic Charities of Louisville will hold an event for Catholic school students to learn about Catholic Relief Services’ Rice Bowl program.  This will be held at Holy Cross High School (5144 Dixie Highway) and will feature an interactive display, lunch, and remarks from Thomas Awiapo from Ghana, an individual who benefitted from the funds raised by this program for Catholic Relief Services.  An agenda is below.

Archdiocese of Louisville Celebrates Catholic Schools Week

January 21, 2014 Nearly 20,000 students and 1,500 faculty and staff at 47 Catholic elementary and secondary schools will celebrate National Catholic Schools Week from January 26-February 1, 2014. The theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service.”
