Immaculata Observes Catholic Schools Week with a Presentation of Patron Saints and Valentines for the Elderly and Priests

(Louisville, Ky.)  On Friday, February 2 at 1:30 p.m., Immaculata Classical Academy (6010 Preston Highway) high school students will perform an act of mercy by making Valentines for the elderly and for priests who visit the school to celebrate Mass.

On Tuesday-Friday, January 30 to February 2, at 8:00 a.m. each morning, the secondary students will present the patron saint for each of the four “houses” of the high school. (Immaculata divides high schools students into four houses represented by patron saints: St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Joan of Arc and St. Francis of Assisi.)

Saint Leonard Observes Catholic Schools Week by Thank You Letters and Collecting Items for the Poor.

(Louisville, Ky.) At each of the weekend Masses on Saturday and Friday, January 27-28, an 8th grade student from Saint Leonard School (440 Zorn Avenue) will read a thank you letter to the parishioners for their support of Catholic education.  The Masses are at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

At the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Tuesday, January 30, the students in grades PK-8 will present items they have been collecting for those in need. Items include food and toiletries and the school will donate them to United Crescent Hill Ministries.

Our Lady of Lourdes Carries Out Acts of Service for Elderserve during Catholic Schools Week

On Thursday, February 1, 2018, at approximately 9:20 a.m., students at Our Lady of Lourdes School (510 Breckenridge Lane) will gather to assemble donated items and Valentine’s Day cards into backpacks for clients of Elderserve. This event will feature a speaker from Elderserve, who will inform students about how this organization supports the dignity and well-being of the elderly and “Valentine’s Bingo.”  Students who earn “bingo” will win an extra prize to place inside his or her backpack.  This event also is an observance of the Days of Human Dignity campaign of the Archdiocese of Louisville (www.archlou.org/days-of-human-dignity).
