David Alvin Cockson to be Ordained to the Priesthood for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville

May 27, 2014 (Louisville, KY) On Saturday, May 31, 2014, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. will ordain Deacon David Alvin Cockson to the diocesan priesthood for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville. The ordination will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Assumption, 433 South Fifth Street.

Catholic School Spring Break Week for 2014-2015 School Year Changed

May 14, 2014 (Louisville, Ky.) Based upon the change in the Spring Break dates on the part of Jefferson County Public Schools, Catholic school leaders overwhelmingly recommended that Catholic schools in Jefferson County adjust the 2015 Spring Break dates to be consistent with other school systems.

Based on that input, Leisa Schulz, Superintendent of Schools, has changed the 2015 Spring Break dates to April 6-10, 2015 for Jefferson County Catholic schools.

Statement – Reverend R. Joseph Hemmerle

May 9, 2014 (Louisville, Ky.) On May 8, an individual made a report of sexual abuse to the Archdiocese of Louisville. He reported that as a child he had been sexually abused in the 1970s by Father Joseph Hemmerle.
