April 11, 2017 (Louisville, KY) – Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz has appointed Lisa DeJaco Crutcher as the next Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities. She succeeds Steve Bogus who has served Catholic Charities since 1995 and who retired at the end of March. Ms. Crutcher began work at Catholic Charities on Monday, April 3.

“Lisa brings to this position the perfect combination of professional and volunteer experience, a high degree of competence and a passion for the mission of Catholic Charities.   Catholic Charities is so valuable for our Church and our community, and I am excited to work with Lisa, the Board of Directors and the staff to continue to advance its mission of service and advocacy for the most vulnerable among us,” said Archbishop Kurtz.

A sixth generation Louisvillian, Ms. Crutcher is a summa cum laude graduate of Furman University, with a bachelor of arts degree (1997) in Spanish and political science. She graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2000 and is now pursuing a master of arts in theology at Saint Meinrad School of Theology.

Since returning to Louisville after law school in 2000, Ms. Crutcher practiced law with at Wyatt, Tarrant, & Combs, LLP, where she was a partner in the litigation department.  She also participated in a wide variety of civic and church activities.  She previously served on the boards of the Americana Community Center, Friends of the Library, and Junior League of Louisville. Presently, she serves on the boards of directors for Dare to Care, the Louisville Free Public Library Foundation and Volunteers of America Mid-States, where she was chair of the board for three years.

Ms. Crutcher is a graduate of the Discipleship Program of the Archdiocese of Louisville and of Leadership Louisville, Leadership Kentucky and the Bingham Fellows. In 2013, Ms. Crutcher received recognition from Business First as one of “Forty Under 40” civic leaders. She volunteered in the choir and youth ministry for Holy Spirit Church for many years and continues active participation as a parishioner of Saint Agnes Church, where she joined her husband (a lifelong member) in 2011. She and her husband Marc have two children.
