Qualifications: Requirements include prior experience in facilities maintenance, in a supervisory role. Knowledge of buildings systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, emergency systems, windows, doors, equipment and grounds is desired. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, work occasional weekend hours and returning to the facilities after regular business hours as needed.

Family Catechesis – Children Liaison

Opening: Family Catechesis – Children Liaison
Parish/School: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church
Description: The Family Catechesis – Children Liaison will coordinate programs that directly relate to families with children birth-8th grade in collaboration with the parish ministry team. This part-time position reports to the Adult Faith Formation Director.

Responsibilities

Coordinate Baptism program

  • Communicate schedules for Baptisms and Baptism preparation class
  • Schedule families for dates
  • Order, prepare, and maintain materials for celebrations and classes
  • Recruit and resource presenting couples

Coordinate First Eucharist and Reconciliation sacraments

  • Work with catechists/teachers in the parish Family Catechesis program and school
  • Develop, plan, and implement parent/student meeting and workshops
  • Schedule First Eucharist and Reconciliation celebrations for each year in coordination with the parish and school calendar
  • Coordinate Special Needs Sacramental Preparation

Coordinate the Family Catechesis program K-8th grades

  • Manage registration/marketing materials
  • Foster communication between parents and catechists
  • Assist catechists to update their Archdiocesan catechist certification and provide in-service opportunities.
  • Maintain necessary records of attendance, expenses, etc.

Recruit and oversee Vacation Bible School

  • Assist in developing and planning programs and schedules each year
  • Recruit volunteers
  • Coordinate supply purchases

Coordinate school liturgies and other faith-based activities

  • Coordinate yearly calendar of masses with teachers and administration.
  • Resource seasonal and educational materials.

Responsibilities

  • Liturgical Planning & Leadership
    • Collaborate with the Pastor and volunteer ministry leaders to plan music for all parish liturgies, including Sunday Masses, weekly school Masses, holy days of obligation, weddings, funerals, and special parish celebrations.
    • Ensure all liturgical music is appropriate for the liturgy, fosters active participation, reflects the breadth of the Catholic Church’s musical heritage, and complies with liturgical law and the policies of the Archdiocese of Louisville.
  • Music Ministry Oversight
    • Direct and rehearse parish choirs, cantors, and instrumentalists.
    • Recruit, train, and support volunteer vocal and instrumental musicians to build a strong, collaborative ministry.
    • Provide accompaniment (piano/organ) for liturgies and oversee other instrumental contributions.
  • Administration & Coordination
    • Work with leaders of various liturgical ministries (lectors, EMHCs, altar servers, art and environment, etc.) to ensure the beauty of all liturgical celebrations. This includes:
      • Coordinating the training and scheduling of musicians and liturgical ministers.
      • Communicating regularly with ministry leaders.
      • Maintaining records of EMHC mandates and ensuring that all EMHCs are trained and mandated in accordance with the policies of the Archdiocese of Louisville.
    • Maintain parish instruments and technology used in the liturgy (e.g., piano, organ, sound system, projectors).
    • Manage parish music licenses and resources and compliance with copyright law.
    • Order liturgy supplies and maintain the sacristy, choir room, art and environment storage area, and daily Mass chapel.
    • Work closely with parish and school staff, committees, and volunteers to integrate music into parish life.
  • Community Engagement
    • Foster a welcoming environment that encourages parishioner involvement and leadership in music ministry and other liturgical ministries.
    • Support parish events and celebrations with appropriate musical leadership.
Qualifications:
  • A practicing Catholic with a ministerial heart and passion for the Sacred Liturgy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in music or liturgical studies, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in piano and/or organ performance.
  • Experience directing adult and children’s choirs, and working with cantors.
  • Strong knowledge of Catholic liturgy and liturgical music.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Cemetery Manager

Opening: Cemetery Manager
Parish/School: St. Edward Parish – Jeffersontown
Description: This is a 20 hour part-time position that reports to the Business Manager of Saint Edward Church. The manager of Saint Edward Cemetery is responsible for making sure that all aspects of cemetery operations are performed accurately and efficiently, including but not limited to the sale of burial rights, the performance of interments, the maintenance of the cemetery grounds and keeping records. All training for this position is provided.

  • Guides and educates families on the purchase of burial rights or any other services depending on the needs of the family.
  • Assists families making burial arrangements.
  • Researches and processes burial assignments, and transfers, exchanges, and returns of burial rights, in consultation with the Business Manager, according to Kentucky state law and cemetery rules and regulations.
  • Completes all cemetery documentation at the time of sale, transfer, exchange, or return, including contracts, burial rights agreements, interment request (for at-need sales) and all other pertinent cemetery documents.
  • Reviews and approves all foundation requests prior to memorial installation and all requests to add inscriptions to existing memorials.
  • Maintains a good knowledge of memorial rules in order to provide memorial information to families and be able to answer questions regarding type, size, design, material, and any other type of restrictions that might apply to particular lots.
  • Collects required paperwork from funeral homes and families prior to all burials, which includes interment requests and provisional death certificates, reviews them and makes sure that all required signatures have been obtained and that the deceased has right of burial in the grave.
  • Updates all applicable files including lot sketches (paper and computerized); files provisional death certificate forms monthly with the proper county health department; prints out obituaries and attaches them to interment requests.
  • Flags graves for grave diggers to ensure proper placement of the deceased.
  • Coordinates and supervises removals and reinterments to ensure that proper forms and permits have been filed with the proper government agency and with Saint Edward Church.
  • Supervises the work of outside contractors.
  • Manage the cleanup of the grounds, garbage pick-up, cleanup of tree limbs, cleaning growth from fences, shoveling snow, etc.
  • Any other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Business Manager of Saint Edward Church.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Communicate effectively with Pastor, Business Manager, co-workers, families, and contractors.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and be able to follow directions from superiors.
  • Excellent skills of upkeeping both paper and digital records.
  • Must show respect and sensitivity toward families and visitors.
  • Ability to work outside in a physically demanding environment when needed to manage the cemetery properly.
  • Ability to use miscellaneous equipment and tools necessary to perform all duties described above.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment criminal background check.
