(Louisville, KY) – Catholics in the Archdiocese of Louisville will commemorate the tenth anniversary of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical on care for creation, Laudato Si’. Join the Creation Care Team for a two-day gathering on Tuesday, June 17, at The Olmsted in Louisville and Wednesday, June 18, at the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Motherhouse in Nazareth. That gathering at the motherhouse will be in O’Connell Hall. Dan Misleh, the executive director of the Catholic Climate Covenant, will serve as the keynote speaker, addressing the themes of Laudato Si’ and the implications of climate change.
The Catholic Climate Covenant is dedicated to inspiring and mobilizing the American Catholics to engage in environmental stewardship and to pursue climate justice through the principles of integral ecology. In 2006, the initiative was established with the backing of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Misleh will elaborate on their efforts and outline actionable steps we can take to respond to the calls for action presented in the encyclical.
The event begins at 7 p.m. each evening and is free and open to the public. The venues offer ample parking, wheelchair accessibility, and ASL interpretation services.
This event is sponsored and hosted by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Sisters of Loretto, Ursuline Sisters, and Dominican Sisters of Peace. All have a commitment to care for all creation and work for ecological justice.
