Father Allegra was ordained a Dominican priest on February 14, 1970, at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. He served at St. Mary Church in Johnson City, Tennessee, from 1970 to 1973 and at St. Rose Church in Springfield from 1973 to 1990. From 1990 to 1993, Fr. Allegra assisted in various parishes throughout the Archdiocese, including Most Blessed Sacrament, St. Francis of Assisi, St. George, and St. Bartholomew, all in Louisville, as well as St. Aloysius, Shepherdsville, and St. Joseph, Bardstown.
He was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Louisville on January 19, 1993. From 1993 to 1996, he served as administrator of St. Vincent de Paul, New Hope, and St. Ann, Howardstown, and since 1996, as pastor of Holy Trinity, Fredericktown, and Holy Rosary, Manton.
Father Allegra’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 25, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish (306 Fredericktown Road) in Fredericktown, KY. Visitation will be held at the Church on Wednesday, October 24, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, October 25, from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m.
There will be a Vigil Service on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Church Cemetery following the funeral liturgy.
