Catechist Credit: 3 hours apply toward Theology in the content area Church

The year 2025 marks the 1700th anniversary of the first ecumenical council, known as the Council of Nicaea.  This council formulated a creed to address major disputes existing in the Church, while calling Christians to be unified under a set of common beliefs about Jesus Christ.  How is this ancient call to unity still relevant?  How does this ancient council address modern concerns in the Church?  In a time when objective truth is in question, what can the council teach us about bringing diverse and divided people together under a common vision?  Why does Nicaea matter?  We will explore these and other questions as we learn about the historical context of the council, and the ongoing theological concerns addressed by the Church today.
