Approximately 750 teachers from 38 Catholic elementary schools will gather on Friday, August 9 to celebrate the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year. This event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to noon at St. Peter the Apostle Parish, 5431 Johnsontown Road. The theme is “Open the Door of Faith.” Archbishop Joseph Kurtz will present an extended homily during the Mass on the new evangelization and the importance of a strong Catholic identity and a firm catechetical foundation for Catholic schools.

Following the liturgy, representatives from the Catholic Education Foundation will present the Ulmer teacher awards.

The Archdiocese of Louisville has 47 Catholic elementary and secondary schools serving six counties of Central Kentucky.
