Statement from Archbishop Shelton Fabre on Kentucky Storms

After devastating storms moved through central and southern Kentucky Friday night, my heart goes out to those who lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods. Statement from Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre on the election of Pope Leo XIV

I want to extend my prayerful best wishes to Pope Leo XIV, the successor to St. Peter and Vicar of Christ. This is a historical and spiritual moment for the Catholic Church, and for the Church in America as he is the first pope born in the United States. The process of choosing the Holy Father was done with prayer and discernment by the cardinal electors who were led by the Holy Spirit. I rejoice in their decision, and I […]

Statement from Archbishop Shelton on deadly attack in New Orleans

My heart is heavy after learning about the violent attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans earlier on this New Year’s Day 2025. I am saddened that anyone would commit such a senseless act of violence against the sanctity of all human life. Having been privileged to serve the people of the “Crescent City” as auxiliary bishop from 2007-2013, I join Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond in praying for the repose of […]
