1) I have written often in these Briefings about actions that we have taken to combat child sexual abuse in our Archdiocese and in the broader Church. During this Child Abuse Prevention Month, I also invite your prayers. Here is a resource from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops inviting Catholics to participate a 9-day “Novena for Protection and Healing of Abuse.”

2) I continue to recommend our safe environment newsletter, Honor Thy Children. The March issue here focuses on the effects of sexual abuse on children, symptoms of sexual abuse, and reporting abuse. Our Safe Environment Department in the Family Ministries Office sends this newsletter every month to priests, principals, counselors, deacons, and lay ministers in our parishes and schools. It also is online at www.archlou.org/restoringtrust.

3) Great work is being done in our pro-life ministries, and we have celebrated some recent legislative advances. Please see my column here (also to be included in the print and online editions of The Record next week) about these efforts.

4) I wish all of you a wonderful Holy Week and Easter. If you are able, please join us for the Chrism Mass on Tuesday, April 16, 7:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Assumption. I also hope you view my Lenten/Easter Message, recorded as part of my monthly television program, Conversations with Archbishop Kurtz here.
