Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre has made the following pastor appointments:

Reverend Brandon T. DeToma has been appointed as the pastor of Saint Thomas Church and Saint Monica Church, both in Bardstown, Kentucky, effective September 14, 2024. This assignment will coincide with the termination of his responsibilities at Saint Bernard Church, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Father DeToma, born in Louisville, Kentucky was ordained on May 26, 2018. He attended major seminary at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology, in Saint Meinrad, Indiana, and the Pontifical North American College in Rome, Italy.

Father has served as the pastor of Saint Bernard, in Louisville, since June 21, 2023. He previously served at Saint Michael, Fairfield and All Saints, Taylorsville, and Saint Bernadette, Prospect.

 

Rev. Justin Nelson Alphonse, C.P., has been named as the pastor of Saint Bernard Church, in Louisville, Kentucky, effective September 14, 2024.

Father Nelson, born in Tamilnadu, India, joined the seminary at age 16 and professed religious vows on May 28, 1995. He attended major seminary at Kristu Jyothi College, in Bangalore, Karnataka, India and was ordained to the priesthood on May 7, 2000.

Following his ordination and prior to arriving in the United States, he was the associate pastor and later pastor of Our Lady of Velankany in Randham, Tamil Nadu, India. He also served as the director of Prison Ministry in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

Father has served as the pastor of Saint Agnes since January 1, 2020 (associate pastor 2009-2010). From 2010 to his current assignment, he served at Saint Mary’s, Fairfield, Alabama and Holy Family, Ensley, Alabama (Passionist parishes). Father currently serves as the Region Four representative on Priests’ Council.

 

Rev. Bruno R. D’Souza, C.P., a member of the Passionist Community, has been named as the pastor of Saint Agnes Church, in Louisville, Kentucky, effective September 1, 2024.

Father D’Souza, born in Vasai, Maharashtra, India, joined the seminary at age 19; made his First Profession on May 28, 2000, and Perpetual Profession on March 17, 2004. He attended major seminary at Suvidya College, Electronics City, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India and Kristu Jyoti College, K.R. Puram, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and was ordained to the priesthood on December 4, 2004. Father D’Souza also completed post-graduate studies at Loyola Marymount University, in Los Angeles, California, earning a Masters Degree in Pastoral Theology (fall 2015-summer 2019).

Following ordination, Father D’Souza served as the Director of Students in the Passionist formation house for Philosophy and College students in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. In November of 2012, he joined the Preaching Team at Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center in Sierra Madre, California. Since then, he has served on the Board of Directors and in Young Adult Ministry at the Retreat Center, along with Young Adult Ministry for the San Gabriel Pastoral Region, in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In June of 2023, he was elected to the Leadership Team for the Holy Cross Province, USA. In that capacity, he is serving on the Migration Committee and Province Health Advisory Board for the Province and Passionist Solidarity Network, Inter-Province, Passionists, USA and Mexico.

 

Other Appointments: 

Rev. Thomas Reagan, C.P.M., a member of The Fathers of Mercy Congregation, will serve as the associate pastor of Saint Helen, in Glasgow, Kentucky and Our Lady of the Caves, in Horse Cave, Kentucky, effective September 1, 2024.

Rev. James Walling, C.P.M., a member of The Fathers of Mercy Congregation, will serve as the chaplain at Holy Angels Academy, in Louisville, Kentucky, starting in September of 2024.
