Archdiocese of Louisville Welcomes 456 New Members

(Louisville, KY) Four hundred fifty-six individuals who are preparing to enter the Roman Catholic Church will be recognized during the “Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion” ceremonies at two locations. The first will be on Saturday, February 16, 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Assumption (433 South Fifth Street). The second will be on Sunday, February 17, 2:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Parish (1000 North Beckley Station Road).

Steven Douglas Henriksen to be Ordained to the Priesthood for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville

(Louisville, KY) On Saturday, February 2, 2013, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D., will ordain Steven Douglas Henriksen to the diocesan priesthood for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville. The ordination will take place at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, 501 Cherrywood Road.

Saint Francis of Assisi Students Receive Perfect Scores in Competition

(Louisville, KY) Several students representing St. Francis of Assisi School (1938 Alfresco Place) recently received perfect scores in the first of three meets for this year’s WordMasters Challenge™ — a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 150,000 students annually.

Competing in the difficult “Blue Division” of the WordMasters Challenge™, seventh-graders Sam Belza and Luca Sanchez and eighth-graders Christine Lipscomb, Cassie Drury, and Sarah Santry earned perfect scores of 20 in the December meet. Archdiocese of Louisville Celebrates National Catholic Schools Week

(Louisville, KY) Nearly 20,000 students and 1,500 faculty and staff at 47 Catholic elementary and secondary schools will celebrate National Catholic Schools Week from January 27-February 2, 2013. The theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week is “Catholic Schools Raise the Standards.”
