Today, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recognized St. James Elementary in Elizabethtown, Ky. as a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School based on its overall academic excellence. Two hundred sixty-nine schools were recognized overall, and St. James was one of five private schools recognized in the state of Kentucky.

(Louisville, Ky.) Cassie Drury, an 8th grade student from St. Francis of Assisi School (1938 Alfresco Place), has been selected to represent Kentucky as a Broadcom MASTERS Finalist. She is the only student from the state of Kentucky that was selected for this competition. Thirty finalists were chosen from 300 national semifinalists, who were chosen from an entry pool of thousands.
