The Reverend John Earl Magel, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, died Sunday afternoon, April 15, 2012 at Sacred Heart Village at the age of 86. Father Magel had served as Controller for the Archdiocese of Louisville for many years and as pastor of St. Bartholomew Parish and Saint Michael Parish, Fairfield, KY before retiring in 1995. Father Magel had been a resident of Sacred Heart Village since 2005.
The concelebrated funeral Liturgy will be at St. Bartholomew Church, 2042 Buechel Bank Road on Thursday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road on Wednesday from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at St. Bartholomew Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery following the funeral Liturgy.
