Father Stanley L. Osborne

Reverend Stanley L. Osborne, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, died on July 17, 2018, at the age of 85.  Father Osborne, a native of Louisville, was baptized at Saint George Church in Louisville and attended Saint George for elementary school, Flaget for high school, and Saint Mary in Saint Mary, Kentucky for college. Father Osborne completed his seminary education at Saint Meinrad School of Theology in Saint Meinrad, Indiana.

Father Osborne served as pastor at the following parishes:  Saint Andrew, Harrodsburg, Saint Vincent de Paul, New Hope, and Saint John the Baptist, Rineyville. He served as Administrator pro tempore at Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Francis, and Saint Monica, Bardstown, and as Administrator at Saint Ann, Howardstown, Saint Ambrose, Cecilia, and Saint John the Baptist, Rineyville. Father Osborne served as associate pastor at the following parishes:  Saint John Vianney, Saint Helen, Louisville, Saints Peter and Paul, Danville, Saint James, Elizabethtown, and Saint Edward, before retiring in 2004. Following retirement, Father Osborne served as a senior associate at Saint James, Elizabethtown, and Saint John the Baptist, Rineyville. Father Osborne served as chaplain for the Bluegrass Council of the Boy Scouts and Hardin Memorial Hospital. He also worked with the deaf community and as a member and alternate on the Priests’ Council.

Father Osborne was pre-deceased by his parents, Francis Deward and Hallie Mae (Pendleton) Osborne, sisters, Dora M. Ray and Corinne Bach, and brother, Bernard E. He is survived by his siblings, Edward L. (Sue), Richard F. (Betty) and John T. (Barbara), and many nieces and nephews.

The concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this Saturday, July 21, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Saint John the Baptist Church, 657 St. John Church Rd., Rineyville, Kentucky. Visitation will be Friday, July 20, 2018 at Nazareth Home, 2000 Newburg Road, in Our Lady of Nazareth Chapel, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., at Saint John the Baptist Church that evening from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, July 21, 2018 in church beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be in Saint John Church Cemetery following the funeral liturgy. Donations made be made in Father Osborne’s name to Nazareth Home for Religious and Social Programs.
