Michael C. Martin and M. Casey Sanders to be ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Louisville

May 15, 2017 (Louisville, Ky.) – On Saturday, May 27, 2017, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. will ordain Deacons Michael C. Martin and M. Casey Sanders to the diocesan priesthood for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville.  The ordination will take place at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Assumption, 433 South Fifth Street.

Archbishop Joseph Kurtz Appoints New Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities

April 11, 2017 (Louisville, KY) – Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz has appointed Lisa DeJaco Crutcher as the next Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities. She succeeds Steve Bogus who has served Catholic Charities since 1995 and who retired at the end of March. Ms. Crutcher began work at Catholic Charities on Monday, April 3.

Archdiocese of Louisville Welcomes 506 New Members

March 1, 2017 (Louisville, KY) – Five hundred and six individuals who are preparing to enter the Roman Catholic Church will be recognized during the “Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion” liturgies at two locations.  The first will be on Saturday, March 4, 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Assumption (433 South Fifth Street).  The second will be on Sunday, March 5, 2:30 p.m. at Saint Peter the Apostle Church (5431 Johnsontown Road).

Today, Father Joseph Hemmerle received a seven-year sentence following his conviction on one count of indecent or immoral practices with a minor.

No child should have to experience abuse of any kind.  The Archdiocese is committed to reaching out to victims of sexual abuse and preventing the sexual abuse of minors through training and education. Catholic Men’s Conference

February 8, 2017 (Louisville, Ky) The Archdiocese of Louisville is sponsoring the annual Catholic Men’s Conference, which will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Saint Michael Catholic Church (3705 Stone Lakes Drive), from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  (The doors will open at 6:30 a.m. for breakfast.)

Archdiocese of Louisville celebrates National Catholic Schools Week

January 23, 2017 (Louisville, Ky) More than 19,500 students and 1,500 faculty and staff at 49 Catholic elementary and secondary schools will celebrate National Catholic Schools Week from January 29-February 4, 2017. The theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service.”
