From Most Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D.

Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your time with your family and friends. Enjoy your turkey and cranberry sauce, and especially the pumpkin pie. That’s my favorite. Among the things I’m especially grateful for is you and the privilege of serving you as your Archbishop. This Thanksgiving, I ask that you strive to be the face, the hands, and the heart of Jesus. Do as we are asked in the Psalms. “Let us come together before him in thanksgiving.” And when you sit down before your delicious meal, please give thanks for the Holy Spirit alive in our midst. God bless you and have happy Thanksgiving!

From the Roman Missal, the collect (opening prayer) for Mass on Thanksgiving Day (USA):

Father all-powerful,
Your gifts of love are countless
And you goodness infinite;
As we come before you in this season of Thanksgiving
With gratitude and kindness,
Open our hearts to have concern
For every man, woman, and child,
So that we may share your gifts in loving service.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
One God, for ever and ever.

Amen.
