Sister Louise Gourdeau, SL - August 7, 2007

Sister of Loretto Louise Gourdeau died Aug. 7 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon, Ky. She was 82 and was in her 65th year of religious life.

A native of Portland, Ore., Sister Gourdeau taught in schools and parishes in Colorado, Illinois, Missouri and California. She also taught in the adult literacy program at the Rhodes Tutoring Center in Denver and was records manager for six years at the Loretto staff office in Denver. She moved to the Loretto Motherhouse infirmary in Nerinx, Ky., in 2005.

Survivors include a sister, Celeste French; a brother, Daniel Gourdeau; and members of the Loretto community. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 21 in the Church of the Seven Dolors at the Loretto Motherhouse.
