Sister of Charity of Nazareth Jean Louise Thomas died June 20 at Nazareth Home in Louisville. She was 90 and had been a member of the SCNs for 71 years.
A native of Uniontown, Ky., Sister Thomas served in the apostolate of education and health care in Kentucky, Massachusetts, Ohio and Arkansas. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at St. Cecilia School in Louisville.
She obtained a degree as a pharmacist from Fordham University in New York in 1949, and she served as pharmacist in Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital and St. Joseph Infirmary in Louisville and at the SCN Motherhouse in Nazareth, Ky. Following retirement she served at the Motherhouse in community service.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Patrick Boyle of Owensboro, Ky., and sisters in the SCN congregation.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 26 at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth. Burial was in Nazareth Cemetery.
