Father Thomas E. Donohue - April 30, 2007

Father Thomas E. Donohue, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville and senior associate at St. Clement Church, died April 30 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. He was 93 and had been a priest for 66 years. A native of Louisville, Father Donohue, had been senior associate at St. Clement since he retired in 1984.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held on May 3 at St. Clement Church, 5431 Johnsontown Road, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Father Donohue was pastor of two churches in Louisville: Our Mother of Sorrows from 1968 to 1979 and St. Philip Neri Church from 1979 until his retirement in 1984. Following ordination to the priesthood on June 7, 1941, he served as associate pastor at the former St. Benedict Church for three years. He was a civilian chaplain at Fort Knox and was a U.S. Navy chaplain for 17 months during World War II. Returning from the Navy, he taught at Flaget High School and was an associate pastor at the old St. Patrick Church in Louisville for seven years. He also taught at St. Thomas Seminary and was chaplain at Veterans Administration Hospital from 1953 to 1968. Survivors include nieces, a nephew and his caregiver, Cheryl Busch.
