Obituary - Sister Ella Rose Henretta, SCN

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Ella Rose Henretta, formerly Sister Rose Bernadette Henretta, died January 15 at Nazareth Home in Louisville. She was 88 and had been an SCN for 69 years.

Sister Henretta served in elementary education in Kentucky, Virginia, Louisiana and Tennessee for 29 years. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at St. Augustine, St. Frances of Rome, St. Cecilia, St. Philip Neri and St. Thomas More schools.

She also served in community service at Our Lady’s Home for Infants and in health care at Our Lady of Peace Hospital. She was a staff member in media services for the Bardstown Office of Religious Education, and she served in tutoring in Louisville.

Survivors include three nieces, Margaret Williams of Augusta, Ga.; Mary Ann Vita of Virginia Beach, Va.; and Lynne Therrien of San Diego, Calif.; Edna O’Brien of Farmville, Va., a close relative; and sisters in the SCN congregation.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated January 17 in Louisville. Burial was in the Nazareth Cemetery, Nazareth, Ky.
