Sister Mary Fedler, SCN - November 30
Sister of Charity of Nazareth Mary Fedler, formerly Sister Charles Louise Fedler, died Nov. 30 at Nazareth Home in Louisville. She was 97 and had been an SCN for 78 years.
Sister Fedler served in elementary education as teacher and principal in Kentucky, Ohio and Maryland. In the Archdiocese of Louisville she taught at St. Joseph School, Bardstown, Ky., from 1963-64; was principal of Most Blessed Sacrament School, Louisville, from 1964-69; and taught at Popes Paul and John Consolidated School, Louisville, from 1969-70 and St. Thomas More School, Louisville, from 1970-76. She also served as director of education at St. Thomas-St. Vincent Home from 1976-84.
After retiring from the classroom, she tutored in the Adult Literacy Program in Louisville from 1984-88, and she did volunteer ministry at the Nazareth (Ky.) Montessori Children’s Center from 1992-94.
Survivors include one sister, Loretta Sauer of Louisville; several nieces and nephews; and sisters in the SCN congregation.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 3 at Nazareth Home. Burial was in the Nazareth Cemetery, Nazareth, Ky.
