Sister Grace Babin, SCN - November 20

Sister of Charity of Nazareth Grace Babin, formerly Sister Paul Maria Babin, died November 20 at Nazareth Home in Louisville. She was 90 and had been an SCN for 69 years.

A native of Newport, Ky., she served in the apostolate of elementary education for 29 years in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio and Massachusetts. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at Holy Name School from 1961-63.

Sister Babin also served at Our Lady of Peace Hospital, Louisville, in computer services from 1969-73. At Russell Hall in Nazareth, Ky., she served as transportation coordinator from 1973-75; at Nazareth Home she worked in purchasing from 1975-78; and at Maria Hall she was convent treasurer from 1978-82. She also was treasurer at the Nazareth Motherhouse from 1986-95.

Survivors include a nephew, Landon Osborn, and his wife Marcella of Sun Lakes, Arizona; a niece, Fran Thorman, and her husband Harry of Cold Spring, Kentucky; cousins; and members of the SCN congregation. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated November 27 at St. Vincent Church, Nazareth. Burial was in Nazareth Cemetery.
