Sister Jean Gillespie, SL - November 11

Sister of Loretto Jean Gillespie died November 11 at the Loretto Motherhouse in Nerinx, Ky. She was 89 and in her 60th year of religious life.

A native of St. Louis, Sister Gillespie taught in Missouri, Colorado, Alabama, California and Kentucky. In the Archdiocese of Louisville, she taught at Loretto High School in Louisville in 1953-54.

Survivors include a brother, John Gillespie of St. Louis; a niece, Barbara Bradley; a nephew, John Siebert; many friends; and members of the Loretto community.

Sister Gillespie donated her body to science. A memorial Mass was celebrated November 28 at the Denver Loretto Center Chapel in Littleton, Colorado. A memorial service is planned at a later date at the Loretto Motherhouse in Nerinx.
