Our Lady of Lourdes (510 Breckenridge Lane) 8th graders will welcome a visiting artist for four workshop sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays (March 21, 23, 28, and 30) from 8:00 a.m. to 8:55 a.m.
Each day from 7:10 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. for the rest of the school year, Ascension School’s (4600 Lynbrook Drive) custodian, Mr. Jim Grider, will sell special breakfast items to families and students in order to raise funds for tornado victims.

January 25, 2012 Archdiocese of Louisville Celebrates Catholic Schools Week
More than 20,000 students and 1,500 faculty and staff at 48 Catholic elementary and secondary schools will celebrate National Catholic Schools Week from January 29-February 4, 2012. The theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week is “Catholic Schools: Faith, Academics, Service.”
January 5, 2012 Mrs. Phyllis Dries of St. Patrick Catholic School Receives National Catholic Education Association’s Distinguished Teacher Award
St. Patrick Catholic School proudly announces that Mrs. Phyllis Dries, third grade teacher, is the recipient of the National Catholic Education Association’s (NCEA) Distinguished Teacher Award for 2012. Mrs. Dries will attend the NCEA national conference in April, where she will be recognized before thousands of Catholic school educators.
December 7, 2011 Saint Leonard Students Celebrate Christmas Around the World
Saint Leonard School (440 Zorn Avenue) 1st grade students are completing a “Christmas Around the World” unit. Students created passports and airline tickets in order to visit 10 countries to learn the customs and traditions of each location. Countries being studied include the United States, Sweden, England, Poland, Germany, Holland, Italy, France, Ireland, and Mexico.

On Thursday, November 3, the Archdiocese of Louisville will honor 241 Catholic school teachers who have achieved a total of 4,250 years of teaching experience. This luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Olmsted, 3701 Frankfort Avenue.
October 26, 2011 National CEO of Humane Society Speaks at St. Raphael School
St. Raphael School (2131 Lancashire Avenue) will welcome Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States, to speak to students in grades 5-8. He will speak at the school on Friday, November 4, at 9:15 a.m.

Reverend Thomas E. Gentile, Chair of the Catholic School Athletic Association (CSAA), announced today the appointment of Richard J. Arnold as the new Executive Director of the CSAA. Mr. Arnold succeeds Mr. James Frame, who has served as Executive Director since 1983.
August 8, 2011 Catholic Elementary Teachers Gather for Opening School Rally
Approximately 700-800 teachers from 39 Catholic elementary schools will gather on Friday, August 12 to celebrate the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year. This event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Paroquet Springs Conference Center in Shepherdsville, Ky. The theme is “Be Transformed by the Renewing of Your Minds.”.
May 16, 2011 Ascension School Holds Spring Enrichment Classes
Ascension School will hold its third annual Ascension Classes for Enrichment (ACE) event on Monday and Tuesday, May 23-24, from 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. (with a lunch break from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.) For these classes, parish members, parents, business people and representatives from state and local service agencies will join Ascension’s faculty to provide a variety of enrichment opportunities for the students.

April 21, 2011 Saint Nicholas Students Win SPAVA Awards
Seventeen St. Nicholas Academy students will be honored on Tuesday, April 26 by the Society for the Prevention of Aggressiveness and Violence Among Adolescents (SPAVA). These students were chosen on the basis of essays that they composed featuring famous role models in history who model SPAVA principles.
