Holy Spirit and Holy Trinity Schools Win Blue Ribbon Award
(Louisville, KY) The United States Department of Education has announced that Holy Spirit Elementary School, 322 Cannons Lane, and Holy Trinity Elementary School, 423 Cherrywood Road, have been named Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence.
The No Child Left Behind – Blue Ribbon School Program honors public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement. In 2007, 287 schools received awards. Holy Spirit and Holy Trinity were two of three K-12 schools recognized in Jefferson County and two of eleven schools recognized statewide.
Holy Spirit and Holy Trinity join five archdiocesan secondary schools (Assumption, Mercy, Sacred Heart, Trinity and Saint Xavier) and five archdiocesan elementary schools (St. Agnes, St. Albert, St. Raphael, St. Margaret Mary, and Sacred Heart Model) that have previously received this honor.
Representatives from the schools will travel to Washington, D.C., on November 12 and 13 to formally receive the award. Local celebrations also are being scheduled.
