St. Leonard Students Recognized for Service

(Louisville, Kentucky) On Friday, May 25, students at St. Leonard School (440 Zorn Avenue) will be honored by Father Dale Cieslik, St. Leonard pastor, for their 100% commitment to service. The students in grades K-8 will be recognized at a school-wide prayer service beginning at 9:00 a.m.

During the fall of 2005, Father Dale gave each class $10 and challenged the students to use the money to “make a difference” by creating meaningful service projects. These projects were created during the 2005-2006 school year and have continued throughout the 2006-2007 year. Projects included the creation of story boxes for visually impaired children by fifth-graders, regular visits to a senior citizens home by the kindergarten class, and the delivery of meals on wheels to homebound seniors by the eighth-grade class. Each class successfully created and conducted a service project.
