Holy Spirit School Combats Bullying

Holy Spirit School (322 Cannons Lane) will be having a "No Name Calling Week" March 26–30 in conjunction an anti-bullying program called the STAR Program. The STAR program is based upon the qualities of: spirit, tolerance, acceptance and respect.

Monday, March 26, is the kick-off, when students and staff will sign the “Falcon Oath” listing the promises they will keep.

Tuesday, March 27, is sticker day. Students and faculty will decorate stickers that illustrate what they are proud to be - a Christian, soccer player, etc.

Wednesday, March 28, is an assembly day with magician David Garrard from St Matthews Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m.  Mr. Garrard, who has just been announced as the opening act for Thunder Over Louisville, will incorporate his "tricks" with Holy Spirit’s theme.

Thursday, March 29, is “mix it up” lunch day. Students will be randomly mixed up at their lunch tables with students from different classes and age groups. Centerpieces with conversation starters will help students get the conversation going.

Friday, March 30, is an outreach day, and students will receive a uniform break for bringing in $1.00 for a child in need. Beginning at 1:30 p.m., classes will all be treated to an ice cream social where they can talk about what they have learned during the week.

Teachers also will teach lessons throughout the week that focus on ways to deal with and avoid conflict and that stress the importance of put ups instead of put downs.
