STATEMENT

(Louisville, Kentucky) The Archdiocese of Louisville is in favor of the current HPV vaccination legislation (HB 345) that has passed the Kentucky House of Representatives.

We support vaccinations as a matter of public health. However, we have always believed that parents must be able to opt out due to religious convictions that they may have about a vaccination or other health issue involving their children.

Cervical cancer is a serious public health issue in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. HB 345 addresses this concern while protecting the religious rights of parents.
