St. Nicholas Academy Celebrates the Season of Giving

(Louisville, Kentucky) Saint Nicholas Academy will celebrate the Feast of Saint Nicholas on Wednesday, December 6 at 9:00 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Church (3509 Taylor Blvd.). Fr. John Caskey will be the celebrant. The school community of 711 students and 55 staff members will be in attendance. The church will be full, and the liturgy will be powerful.

On Thursday, December 7, selected students and teachers from St. Nicholas Academy will be shopping for families in need from the four parish communities (Most Blessed Sacrament, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, SS. Simon and Jude and St. Thomas More) that support the school. The shoppers will be at the Jefferson Mall (4801 Outer Loop) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Students who were given the privilege of shopping were selected from a random drawing, and funds to cover the shopping expedition were generated by the students through a program called “Heaven Cents.” Each grade has been competing to see who could bring in the most pennies (as well as silver coins, dollars and checks). As of today, students have generated $6,000 for the shopping expedition.
