St. Francis of Assisi School and Nativity Academy Observe International Peace Prayer Day


(Louisville, KY) On Thursday, September 21, 2006, at 1:00 p.m., 400 elementary school students from St. Francis of Assisi School (1938 Alfresco Place) and Nativity Academy (529 East Liberty Street) will celebrate “International Peace Prayer" day. This event will be held in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1960 Alfresco Place.

International Peace Prayer Day is a day set aside by the United Nations as a reminder of the need to pray for and think about the hope for peace. Prayers for peace will be said and sung in Arabic, Hebrew, Hindu and English. A “Flags of all Nations” ceremony will be held, and students will make and send 1,000 paper cranes to the children of the Middle East in an offering of peace. The Louisville Drum Corps will offer “Drumming as a Prayer” at the end of the event.
