PABLO ANTONIO HERNÁNDEZ TO BE ORDAINED TO THE PRIESTHOOD FOR ROMAN CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF LOUISVILLE
(Elizabethtown, KY) - On Saturday, August 12, 2006, Archbishop Thomas C. Kelly, O.P., will ordain Pablo Antonio Hernández to the Roman Catholic priesthood. The ordination will take place at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Parish, 307 West Dixie Avenue, Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Pablo Hernández, 31, is a native of San Vicente, El Salvador. He received a bachelor’s degree in commerce and administration from Liceo Divino Nino Jesus in San Vicente and attended seminary in Solola, Guatemala, from 1995 to 1999. After traveling to the United States and being accepted by the Archdiocese of Louisville, Hernández earned advanced degrees from Saint Meinrad School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Indiana.
After ordination, Hernández will serve as an associate pastor at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown, Kentucky.
Pablo Hernández will serve as a diocesan priest. A bishop or archbishop ordains diocesan priests, also called secular priests, for a particular geographical area called a diocese or archdiocese. Diocesan priests usually serve in parishes, though they also may serve in schools, hospitals, prisons or diocesan offices, depending upon local needs. Diocesan priests ordained for the Archdiocese of Louisville serve in the 24 counties in Central Kentucky that make up the Archdiocese.
The ordination ceremony will last for approximately 2 hours.
