Saint Nicholas Academy Observes Good Friday
(Louisville, KY) Eighth-graders at the north campus of Saint Nicholas Academy (4333 Hazelwood Avenue) have written and will stage a reenactment of Christ’s passion and death. This reenactment will begin in the school gym with a play that dramatizes the Last Supper and ends with Christ begin condemned to death. The 8th graders will then lead the rest of the students of the north campus through the 14 “Stations of the Cross,” which depict the events surrounding Jesus Christ’s crucifixion. Stations have been established outside throughout the campus. The play and stations will be held at 8:20 a.m., 9:10 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The public is invited to these events.
Kindergarten students at the south campus of Saint Nicholas (5501 New Cut Road) will be presenting the Stations of the Cross to their fellow students in grades 1 and 2. This event will take place at 12:30 p.m.
The “Stations of the Cross” is a Roman Catholic devotion established in the Middle Ages. The “stations” are visual aids that are mounted on a Church wall or placed in outdoor shrines. Participants typically pause and pray in front of each station. The stations are:
