Purpose
To support teaching and learning in all its forms in the faith community.
Mission Statement
“The mission of Formation and Education in the Archdiocese of Louisville is to teach Catholic beliefs, traditions and values as well as to provide ministerial support, formation and training in the context of deepening spirituality and lifelong faith formation.”
We accomplish this mission by:
- proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ in the Catholic tradition
- inviting all persons at various stages of life to fulfill their human potential
- building the community of faith
- leading persons to worship and prayer
- working toward the transformation of individuals, communities and cultures in light of gospel values
We commit ourselves to stewardship of our spiritual, human and material resources in furthering this mission.
The elements of lifelong formation and education that we see as most important are:
- parish communities that are vital centers of lifelong formation and education
- Catholic schools that are dedicated to both religious formation and academic excellence
- just and unified structures for making lifelong formation and education programs available to individuals and communities throughout the Archdiocese
- training, affirming and just compensation for all who are involved in the ministry of lifelong formation and education
- development and stewardship of our human and financial resources
