A grave is a space of ground in the cemetery used, or intended to be used, for the burial of the remains of one person. By purchasing a second right of burial, a full size grave can accommodate up to two remains — as long as one or both are cremated remains.
The purchaser of a grave owns no interest in real estate, but has right of burial in that particular grave.
The price of each grave includes the cost of providing for future mowing and trimming of the grave.
There are six different grave privileges that can be purchased. Each privilege will determine what type of memorialization will be allowed on the lot.
Level Marker Privilege
|
This privilege allows for markers that are level with the ground. The markers for this type of privilege can be single, double or triple. No plantings are allowed at any time on these graves; however, fresh flowers can be placed in temporary vases throughout the year. Artificial arrangements are allowed only from November 15 through February 28. Calvary, St. Michael and St. Louis Cemeteries have level marker graves available for sale.
The size ranges for level markers are as follows:
- Infant Level: 20”x10”x4”
- Adult Single Level: 24”x12”x4” – 24”x14”x4”
- Adult Double Level: 36”x12”x6” – 36”x14”x6”
- Adult Triple Level: 48”x12”x6” – 48”x14”x6”

The markers for this type of privilege can be single, double or triple. A permanent vase may be attached to the top of the bevel marker. Annual flowers or spring bulbs may be planted within 6” to the front and sides of the marker. Plantings require wood or bark mulching and regular weeding (no rocks or plastic borders are allowed). Calvary, St. Michael, St. Louis and St. John Cemeteries have bevel marker graves available for sale.
The size ranges for bevel markers are as follows:
- Adult Single Bevel: 24”x12”x8” – 24”x12”x10” – 24”x12”x12” – 24”x14”x8” – 24”x14”x10” – 24”x14”x12”

Monument Privilege
| Monument lots must consist of at least two graves and may use an upright memorial, which usually is a tablet and a base. Other designs include benches, crosses, statues or sundials. The materials may be granite or marble, with bronze, aluminum, stained glass or stainless steel artwork attached. The size of the stone is determined by the size of the lot. Cremated remains may be placed inside the monument for above-ground burial, subject to the design of the monument. Annual flowers or spring bulbs may be planted within 6” to the front and sides of the monument. Plantings require wood or bark mulching and regular weeding (no rocks or plastic borders are allowed). For an annual fee, Catholic Cemeteries can plant and maintain shrubs or ivy. Calvary, St. Michael and St. Louis Cemeteries have monument lots available for sale. |

Estate lots ranging from six to twelve graves can use one central monument and individual level or bevel markers. Calvary Cemetery has estate lots available for sale. |

| Special lots can be purchased to accommodate single crypt or walk-in buildings. All private mausoleums require an endowment to maintain the building in the future. The size of the endowment is determined by the management of the Catholic Cemeteries. |

Cremation Graves
Cremation graves may be purchased with level, bevel, slant or monument privilege. A cremation grave allows for one in-ground burial of cremated remains. Full-size graves can also be used for the burial of cremated remains, allowing up to two cremated remains per grave (the second right of burial fee applies). The same planting and decoration restrictions that apply to full-size graves apply to cremation graves. Calvary Cemetery has cremation graves available for sale.
