Fostering vocations in the Archdiocese is: An Active Partnership Between the Whole People of God.

CLASSROOM VISITS

Kids get a visit from a sister and a monk (Record article from January 18, 2007) Students at St. Stephen Martyr School got a lesson in religious vocations last week when Ursuline Sister Rita Joseph Jarrell and Benedictine Father Anthony Vinson visited the school. Religious men and women visited several schools last week as part of National Vocation Awareness Week.

•Volunteers from the Archdiocese of Louisville Planting Seeds Committee will make visits to schools and parishes. The team is made up of diocesan priests, religious community priests and brothers, and religious community sisters. Letters of invitation are mailed in the fall to schools and parishes, inviting them to participate in this program. To promote vocations in our archdiocese, visits are made at the beginning of the academic year through January's celebration of National Vocation Awareness Week. Requests for presentations should be sent to the Vocation Office, and advance scheduling is necessary.

VOCATIONS OFFICE PROGRAMS

Dinner with the Archbishop: This annual vocation program has grown to host over 400 guests from 13 counties from all around the Archdiocese of Louisville. A vocation awareness event, this program includes prayer, vocation speakers, dinner and “Desserts and Displays”, an opportunity for the adult sponsors to mingle and enjoy dessert while their student guests visit the display booths and learn more about religious vocations from diocesan priests and vowed men and women religious communities.

VOCATION BOOKS

The Vocations Office has published two books for teachers, parents and young persons interested in learning more about vocations. These books are available on this website; in the library of each Catholic elementary and high school; and through the Media Center in the Flaget Center. Each book contains more than 100 pages filled with Scriptures, quotes and photos of ordained ministers serving in the Archdiocese of Louisville.
