Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) entitles eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons. The Office of Human Resources will determine if the leave requested qualifies as FMLA. To be eligible to request FMLA, an employee must have worked a full year for the Archdiocese of Louisville and have worked at least 1,250 hours during the twelve months prior to the start of the FMLA leave. The 1,250 hours of work cannot include holiday, vacation or sick leave in the calculation. It must be actual time worked.
