December 7, 2009 (Louisville, Kentucky) Saint Aloysius School in Pewee Valley is proud to announce that Cara Westman, the middle school social studies teacher, won a $500 MAC (Make Activities Count) grant from the McDonald Foundation on Friday, December 4, 2009.
December 1, 2009 (Lexington, KY) On December 3, seven volunteers will be honored for their efforts in alleviating the hidden crime of human trafficking. These awards will be presented by the Kentucky Rescue and Restore Victims of Human Trafficking Program at the Kentucky Alliance for Sexual Assault Programs annual conference in Lexington.
November 16, 2009 Eighth graders who wish to attend a Catholic high school during the 2010-2011 school year must take the Catholic high school placement test scheduled on Saturday, December 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
November 13, 2009 (Louisville, KY) On Wednesday, November 18, sixth-graders at Ascension School will visit the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This visit is the culmination of an engineering education program that began at the school this fall.
November 2, 2009 (Pewee Valley, KY) On Wednesday, November 11, St. Aloysius Elementary in Pewee Valley is having a Veteran’s Day Concert at 9:30 a.m. in the gym.

October 14, 2009 The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Lifelong Formation and Education is sponsoring the annual “ACCOMMODATE 2009” at Trinity High School, 4011 Shelbyville Road, on Thursday, November 12, 2009.
October 11, 2009 Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D., is celebrating the annual Wedding Anniversary Mass on Sunday, October 11 at the Cathedral of the Assumption. This event honors couples celebrating their 30th, 40th, 50th or 60th+ wedding anniversaries.
October 2, 2009 Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville will hold a Catholic Elementary Open House Day on Wednesday, October 21, 2009.
September 29, 2009 Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School has received a grant from the Dana Foundation and Bellarmine University. Through this grant, the kindergarten classes will benefit from the Kentucky Shakespeare’s Artist-in-Residence program.
September 23, 2009 Catholic elementary and high schools are invited to design special projects for the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
August 12, 2009 Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville will begin the first official day of instruction on August 19, 2009. Although this is the first “official” day of school, some Catholic schools choose to begin on a day other than August 19. Parents are asked to consult their school’s handbook to determine when their particular school will begin instruction.
August 10, 2009 (Louisville, KY) Approximately 700-800 teachers from 39 Catholic elementary schools will gather on Friday, August 14, to celebrate the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Churchill Downs.
August 11, 2009 (Louisville, KY) On Sunday, August 16, at 5:00 p.m., Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz will bless and dedicate Saint Mary Academy’s new campus located at 11311 Saint Mary Lane in Prospect, Kentucky. The school blessing and dedication will be the first opportunity for students, families, and the public to enter the new school building.

(Louisville, KY) On Sunday, July 26, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz informed parishioners of St. Ignatius Martyr Parish (1816 Rangeland Road) that the pastor, Father James R. Schook, is on a leave of absence. Archbishop Kurtz communicated this information at Sunday morning Mass and by letter.
