Vatican says pope’s meeting with Kentucky clerk is not endorsement

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Pope Francis' meeting with Kim Davis, the county clerk from Kentucky who was jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses, does not equate support for her "position," the Vatican spokesman said after discussing the issue personally with the pope.

Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, the spokesman, issued a statement Oct. 2 saying the pope had met with "several dozen persons who had been invited by the nunciature to greet him" in Washington and that "such brief greetings occur [...]

Four schools named ‘Blue Ribbon’ winners

Four Archdiocese of Louisville schools have been named U.S. Department of Education 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools. This is the second year in a row that four schools in the archdiocese have won this distinction.

The awards will be presented to 335 schools around the nation — including 50 non-public schools — at an awards ceremony in November in Washington, D.C.

The four local Catholic schools are:

Four Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic Elementary Schools Win Blue Ribbon Awards
